Pony Ride is a delightful rhyming book for children of all ages. Saddle up and come along on an adventurous ride across green meadows, past many animals, and on up the hillside to the roundup where calves are being branded. This is a great picture book to introduce the young cowboy or cowgirl to the thrill of the West.
Not enough is being written for children about an important part of our heritage: the American cowboy and the West. Gail Heath has written a simple, charming introduction for young, beginning readers to the life of a young cowboy. Entertaining, with brightly colored illustrations to catch the young reader's eye, this is a great book for parents to read to their not quite old enough to read yet child, or an easy reader for the beginner. Highly recommended. -James J. Griffin, best-selling Western author
5.0 out of 5 stars PONY RIDE IS AN AMAZING BOOK! The story is captivating and my students enjoyed practicing rhyming and synonyms along the ride. The words used in this book allowed our class to have rich conversations about the action words, as well as the many vocabulary terms introduced. Thank you for the adventure. -Jessica Hanakahi, Kindergarten Teacher
I love so many things about this Kindle book about a young cowboy (or cowgirl). First, the graphics are so attractive, especially on my Apple iPad Pro 12.9”. It appeared like a real video animation, and it’s just a Kindle book. I love the repetition of the word “Giddy-up.”
This gave the content an interesting flow, and the rhymes and story followed suit. My daughter once in a while recites some lines of the story, particularly when I smile at her. She says, “Giddy-up smiled my mother,” and when she wants to sleep, she's like “Giddy-up called my bed.” The story is truly captivating and realistic… I personally learned new words from this book and I’m very impressed with the concept of the cowboy's relationship to the pony (horse). Highly Recommended!!! -Kayla Fisher

My niece and nephew liked Gail Heath's other children's books, such as "My Dog Fred", so much that I felt this book would also be a good investment. And it was. They enjoyed the story, the rhymes are engaging, and the characters are fun. "Pony Ride" explores the world outside the concrete jungle and follows a boy who takes a pony ride through a ranch. Along the way, the author introduces the different types of animals you would find on a spread such as this, as well as the different cowboys it takes to keep a ranch running. It's an educational read, and at the same time, entertaining. The kids in your life will like it. -Amazon Customer
